Spotify vs Audible vs Hoopla : A sweet spot for book lovers ?

I have been a huge book lover all my life. I am a fast reader and I love the feeling of having a physical book in my hand. May be a bit old school but there is nothing like being engrossed in a book sipping chai on a rainy day. Those were all good old days. I still keep a book with me all time but I hardly get any time to read with the fast moving pace of life.

I moved to Audible a few years ago. The whole idea of listening to audio books was a bit of mind set change. Listening to someone narrating a book is way different than reading a book with that inner voice talking to me as I processed the information coming in from the books. It took me time to get used to it. But then the plus was I could listen while cooking, working or while exercising.

I am a big music lover too. Now with audible that required a separate app. Music is simply not an option on Audible. Spotify gives me that option. I got sold on books and music in one app idea and moved to Spotify.

There are some drawbacks of Spotify though .. they have a 15 hour per month limit on books which to me is a low bar. Post 15 hour I have to buy additional time :(  that made me miss Audible for sure ! But then I found one more option.. enter the world of Hoopla!!!

Hoopla is a free access with most US public library cards. There is no time limit on hoopla. You can listen to music, watch movies and borrow books in both eBook format or audio book format. The quality is great. There is a monthly borrow limit which for me is 6 instant borrows and 3 flex borrows.

I found my sweet spot : Spotify premium + Hoopla. I get to read/listen to at least 7 books minimum per month ! And best part is I can do it on the move during my nature walks in summer. What else does a book lover need :) .
